3.5 inch LCD problem

I'm having a problem with my LCD. I apply power, but the board on the back gets incredibly hot and the screen does not power up. I have tested it under multiple voltages, all between 6 and 12 volts, and ample current is supplied. Polarity is correct in every case. What should I do? If it cannot be fixed, can a replacement be arranged?

we do test the boards before shipment - can you post a photo showing exactly how you are powering it?

Sorry for the blurry pictures! Here's an explanation: The red wire from the LCD is connected to the positive terminal on my supply. The black is connected to ground. The power supply is supplying 9V at 2A max. I've tested this time and time again, and recently, a small IC on the back has been smoking. Also, after closer inspection, I noticed one IC on the back is severely scratched. Pictures are included.

Can you get a clearer photo of the chip in question? More light usually helps. Try near a window or even outside.

Hopefully this is a bit better....if you look closely, you can see indents in the chip. The last picture is one of the small IC that smoked, it's the one with the large bubble in the middle.

Still can't see any detail in the photos. You are probably closer than the minimum focus distance for your camera. Try backing up a bit. Better to have a smaller in-focus image than a large fuzzy one.

the regulator definately popped - do you remember smelling something burning when you plugged it in?

Yes, definitely. But as earlier stated, all power specifications were correct, no debris was near to short the board, and the power leads were not shorted. What can be done?

but please be very careful! - we test every single TFT board here with a proper power supply and video input - so its very likely you accidentally connected something backward/wrong
