Alrighty, well, would it help to give you my network configuration?
I can do that.
I did some reading on wpa_supplicant from the Arch Linux wiki, I have checked all of my sources, and expended my knowlesge of linux and the CLI on this, and no luck.
Any suggestions would help a lot.....
Thanks!

Re: WiFi not working with Raspberry Pi / Occidentalis
we'd start over with a clean version of occidentalis, just edit /etc/network/interfaces and reboot
dont mess with anything else, its not required!

Alright, then.
I'll try that and see what happens.
Can I do the same on beaglebone if I have wpa_supplicant installed?

stick to one board - hundreds have gotten wifi on Occidentalis and that module working - so its probably something you'll have to work out with your setup and is not a hardware problem

Re: WiFi not working with Raspberry Pi / Occidentalis
If you did a apt-get-update and apt-get upgrade the wifi is broken for rtl8192su "new kernel".
However if you have a ralink chipset 5370 it now works about $8 not on adafruit.
You can re-install the old kernel and life should be good again.

Re: WiFi not working with Raspberry Pi / Occidentalis
SOLVED:
This is a Linux issue. Linux cannot connect to networks with hidden SSID's (like mine). Apparently it can be done with NetworkManager, but that is huge overhead on something so simple and resource-limited as a RasPi.
Solution: Unhide your network SSID's or extend/guest network your main wireless network with a non-hidden SSID and a good password.
