RasPi VESA Mount Kit when monitor mounted using VESA mount

Postby casestudies » Tue Sep 18, 2012 6:46 pm

Hey,

I'm wondering if the VESA mount for RasPi (http://adafruit.com/products/986) would work if the monitor is mounted using a VESA mount. I need to mount a monitor in the "portrait" position using a VESA mount attached to the rear of the monitor. I'm wondering if this VESA mount could perhaps be mounted off to one side using 2 screws instead of the normal four screws.

Do you know what the dimensions are for the VESA mount yet? I saw another thread on the forum stating that when they ship, the information will be released.

Thanks!

it -might- work but it really does depend on the mount itself. Its meant for monitors who have stands as well as VESA holes on the back

Well, here's thought. (and if it works, i want a sticker)

A second version perhaps? Offset the VESA mounting points sufficiently that the RPi sitsnext to the VESA mount. It won't work for every situation, of course, but it might extend the possibilities. If it really is just a larger piece of acrylic, Adafruit can keep their overhead low.

Happy making!

Thanks all. I have decided to design a mount myself. We'll see how well it turns out. :)
