Starter Kit: Raspi no longer boots

Postby weenip » Mon Nov 12, 2012 2:44 pm

hello. the raspberry pi that came w/ the starter kit no longer starts up. the red power led lights, but neither of the other ones light when i put an sd card in or attach an ethernet cable.

it booted fine the first few days i had it, but one day it just stopped.

when i test the same peripherals (usb power cord, sd card, hdmi cable + monitor, usb keyboard) on a coworkers raspi, it boots + works as expected.

what other tests should i run to determine if the unit is defective?

thanks.

alas, no love.

i re-burnt my sd card + i also burnt an image to a different sd card.

neither boots my raspi; both boot my co-worker's raspi.

any other suggestions?

i've since borrowed a multimeter.

on my (sad) raspi, w/ no peripherals connected + no sd card, measuring voltage across tp1 + tp2 yields: 3.9

on my coworker's (happy) raspi, same usb power supply + setup, the measurement is: 5.18

i'm sure what my next step should be--any suggestions?

Have you tried swapping the power supplies? Or measuring the output voltage of your power supply?

*edit* nevermind... I didn't see that you used the same supply on your test.
