Adafruit RGB Negative 16x2 LCD+Keypad Kit for Raspberry Pi

Post by pmansvelder »

Hello,
I have a question about the 'Adafruit RGB Negative 16x2 LCD+Keypad Kit for Raspberry Pi' kit: is it possible to use the header pins from the raspberry pi when this kit is connected? On the pictures the connector solders 'flat' onto the circuit board, but is it possible to leave the pins uncut, and long enough to connect a flatcable connector or at least some patch wiring?

We have the extra long headers that you can then pass thru the LCD plate- they'll poke out the top

Problem with Pi not powering up when newly completed RGB Negative 16x2 LCD+Keyboard kit for Raspberry Pi is connected.

I just finished building my Adafruit negative RBG display for the Raspberry Pi. The instructions were very simple to follow and the final result looks great but, when I connect the display board to the Raspberry Pi and apply power I get no power indicators on the Pi and it will not boot. If I disconnect the display board the Pi boots fine. I am using a 2.5 amp powersupply connected to the Pi with the Micro USB connector. I used a socket to mount the i2c control chip so I removed it to see if I received a different result but the issue was the same, no power indicators on the Pi when the power adaptor was connected. What can I do to trouble shoot my work?
