Hi, I tried to wire up a LED strip as in http://learn.adafruit.com/assets/1589 and used
my T-cobbler. I thought I had done it correctly following the pictures in the cobbler tutorial, but
screwed up and connected the cable the wrong way to the Pi and blew it up. (I hope I have not damaged
the LED strip). It is my mistake as I did not heed the warning in the cobbler tutorial about having
the red wire closest to the SD card, however I was mislead by the photos in the cobbler tutorial.
I relied on the the orientation of the cable and plug as shown in the photos.
It would be a good idea to change the photo of how the cable is connected to the T-cobbler that
is consistant with how the cable is connected to the Pi in the photo.
Here is the setup that blew the pi
This is the correct (I hope) setup which has the cable fold back over the T-cobbler

Thank you for the feedback. Can you tell us which photos in particular were confusing to you?

This photo in the tutorial http://learn.adafruit.com/assets/3962 shows the cable attached to the T-cobbler
and this photo http://learn.adafruit.com/assets/615 shows the cable attached to the pi (and the old style
cobbler). In the tutorial the photos show up quite small and I didn't notice the red line, but relied on hooking the
cables in the orientation shown, i.e. the cables leading straight out from the top of the T and straight out from the pins
on the pi. It would be clearer if the first photo had the cable connected so it had to fold over the connector to lead
away from the top of the T. Additionally a photo of the T-cobbler connected correctly to the pi would help too.
BTW, the LED strip was not damaged, and hooking it up as in my second photo works fine. Luckily I had a 2nd pi. I can't see
any obvious signs of damage on the first pi which is now dead, but by plugging it in the wrong way, I put +5v on to a ground
pin and GRD to GPIO 9 (MISO) and it produced a nasty burning smell as it died.

Re: T-cobbler mistake - blew up RP
Hi,
I'm just about to wire up a permanent cable as in http://learn.adafruit.com/light-paintin ... i/hardware and I think there is a mistake in the picture http://learn.adafruit.com/assets/1621. In that picture there are only 3 wires going to the header, while the circuit shows 4 wires. The +5V from the power jack (red shrinkwrap) should be connected to the 2nd wire on the flat cable (counting red on cable as 1) as well as to the LED strip.
