WebIDE will not connect

I have tried to install WebIDE a couple of times. Each time I get this error

" Failed to set capabilities on file `/usr/share/adafruit/webide/bin/node_hf/node' (Operation not supported)"

I am running the Pi on Raspbian Wheezy connecting via a wifi .

Tried both manual install and automatic install via putty terminal.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Dave,

Does it fail while running the WebIDE installer?

I think it's failing to execute this line:

sudo chmod +x /usr/share/adafruit/webide/bin/node_hf/node

Can you try running that manually after the installation fails? Do you have those directories (/usr/share/adafruit/webide) created during installation?

Also how does the manual installation fail?

Are you using the 'pi' user to install?

Also, this might be obvious (maybe not, as everyone is at a different comfort level with the Pi), but you need to ssh into the Raspberry Pi via putty prior to installing.

I re-installed it got the same message

no error message or message of any kind, just moved to new line

tried to log in using both http://raspberrypi.local and http://192.168.1.xxx (pi's IP address) no success. also tried http://raspberrypi.local:3000 and http://192.168.1.xxx :3000 no success

I have the directories tree (/usr/share/adafruit/webide)

I am new to Linux and Pi ,I am not sure what you are asking " Are you using the 'pi' user to install? "

I installed using Putty ssh 192.168.1.xxx

when I tried the manual install I ran the install scripts via the Pi

same results

Can you try executing this command as well?

sudo setcap 'cap_net_bind_service=+ep' /usr/share/adafruit/webide/bin/node_hf/node

I'm not quite sure where that error is getting thrown. A bit more of the installation log surrounding that error could be useful, if you still have it.
