I have been working with a Raspberry Pi with a PI Plate, I2C LED and Adafruit WIFI and all is working fantastic!
However I have some debugging that needs me to get on the Serial Console of the PI with the Pi Plate attached.
I was thinking if I add a few header pins to the Pi Plate that breaks out the Console Serial RX, TX and Ground with the Adafruit FTDI Friend pinout I could troubleshoot as required.
Just to confirm:
RPI RX to FTDI TX (FTDI Friend 3v Friendly)
RPI TX to FTDI RX (FTDI Friend 3v Friendly)
RPI Ground to FTDI Ground
Communications program at 115K Baus.
Oh "Masters of the Adafruit" can you you see any reason this would not work?
If this works it might be a great connector for the next PI Plate revision. (Patent NOT pending)
The more I think about is I'll try it real soon and post the results.

That sounds like it should work. We typically use this cable for that purpose: http://www.adafruit.com/products/954

Worked perfectly. Nice to have a one connection console cable on the RPi.
