Recently purchased RPi Model B. Used SD Formatter to format my 4GB Sandisk. Used Win32 Disk Imager to load the NOOBS v1.2.1. Also checked the SHA checksum to ensure the zip image was downloaded successfully...check. Loaded successfully according to Win32 DI feedback.
USB Keyboad and mouse connected. HDMI to monitor connected. SD Card installed. I did not connect the LAN port yet. Connected power...RED power light comes on solid. 5V USB Power supply is purchased from Adafruit.
I get nothing on the monitor. I get no Ethernet activity if I plug Ethernet cable into the RPi. Maybe the Ethernet is disabled by default..dont know...
Also did some SD Card troubleshooting to ensure no broken pins or slot. Even changed out my SD card holder and changed my 4GB with a 2GB imaged card...same issue...nothing.
suggestions...thanks.

Is there a faint glow from the green led?
There is a troubleshooting checklist here: http://elinux.org/R-Pi_Troubleshooting# ... on_display

Re: Issues out of the box
I was reading this very link last night and did the troubleshooting prior to sending this inquiry to the forum. Quick question...which forum should this request be posted to?
So...there is now faint glow on the Ethernet. As I mentioned...I changed out power supplies. I used two different Ethernet cables, including a xover Ethernet cable (just in case). But I am stumped. I believe that the USB keyboard and mouse are seated properly...
Thoughts?

OK...further troubleshooting...
1) there is a faint light on the ACT LED.
2) I get 5.16V across TP1 and TP2. This is the Adafruit power supply. So good here.
3) SD Card slot pins are fine. Looked at height of pins...good 'spring' in the pins
4) SD card, when seated makes proper contact with long metal spring contacts
5) do not think the main poly fuse is over heated since I just got this...no operating time.
6) not sure what 'Try with no cables connected except the USB power lead, and SD card inserted. You should see flashing of the OK light for ~20 seconds.' I have ACT LED...there is no OK LED. But stepping powering on with just SD Card...RED LED Pwr and faint ACT LED is no.
7) Plugin HDMI...'No signal'

Re: Issues out of the box
A faint glow on the ACT led means that the boot code hasn't started. If you still have that with nothing but the power cable & SD card plugged in, then chances are you have a bad card or a bad image.
The image is probably OK since you checked the checksum. But it still could be a card incompatibility with the Pi. Have you checked this page?: http://elinux.org/RPi_SD_cards

Voltage across TP2 to lead closest to F3 side of poly fuse - 5.18V
Voltage across TP2 to lead closest to SD Slot - 5.16V
Voltage across TP2 to lead closest to SD Slot - 5.16V

Even we get bad or marginal ones from time-to-time. If that turns out to be the case we will certainly replace it. Do you have another card to try?I purchased the card from Adafruit.

I have a 2GB Sandisk card that I installed the OS on...but did boot either. Personally, I do not think it is the SD card...something else...

OK. If it is failing to boot with 2 different cards then contact [email protected] with a link to this thread for a replacement.
