Help with Lesson 10 Raspberry Pi Stepper Motor

Post by thomasd538 »

Hi All,
I am teaching the Lesson 10 Raspberry Pi Stepper Motor to a class of Middle School programming students. We think we have everything wired according to Lesson 10 using ULN-2803 chip. When we run the program, we are asked for the user inputs but the motor does not turn (nor does it turn freely as when the motor is off). We added print statements to check to see if the program was running as expected. It was. We attached some LEDS to the leads that go to the stepper motor. Only the LED connected to the 5v is turning on. How should we proceed with trouble shooting?

Thanks
Tom

Post a photo of your hardware and we'll see if we can find anything.

Thanks for the offer. We figured it out. We had placed the chips upside down.
