FTDI Friend?

Hi,

I am considering ways to have a basic stamp collect data then communicate it periodically, in aggregate form, serially to my RPi.

I am looking at the FTDI Friend for the BS2 / RPi serial link.

Distances are likely in the tens of feet.

Is there a better more appropriate way?
