If you look at the picture, there are two sets of plastic spacer looking things between the connector body and the exposed pins. I get that the concept is that they're there to boost the board upwards to clear the ports and stuff.
But what if you didn't need that BUT you wanted a "stackable" header? Are those plastic spacers removable? If so, would the pin length that extends out the other side of a normal 1.5mm board be long enough to use in the usual manner?
If it helps to know what I'm up to: https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/HUvYLitC
I either don't care that I'm "burying" the display connector, or I'm counting on the flex cable being able to be bent to go under this board without hurting it. The footprint of my board doesn't impinge on anything else.
Can the "extenders" be removed?

Try this one: https://www.adafruit.com/products/1112
In direct answer to your question, I'm pretty sure the spacers are all one unit and can't be pulled off.

Yeah, I saw that one. I was hoping to not have the height of that one. But if I can't take the "spacers" off, then it'll be the only option to get long tails on the other side.
