Pi Resistive TFT Touch Screen Not Working

Post by QuickRecon »

As it says above I ordered a screen about a month ago and finally got around to setting it up and I plug it into my Pi and it crashes. Whenever I send any signal to the screen the whole Pi hangs. I have tried every driver, old, new, easy install and detailed installation. I have even tried all the adafruit images. I am running a Raspberry Pi Revision 2 and the screen has no buttons installed on them and my soldering has firm connections on all pins. I have NOT yet suck down the screen because I wanted to leave it incase I needed to resolder any pins. I will post pictures and more information should you require it. Please Help.

Not perfect and I can clean it later up but it's what I have got.

None of those solders are adequate. The solder is just blobbed up on the tip of the pin. It needs to flow completely across the pad as well. You have not heated the pad with your iron. Both the pin and pad must be evenly heated. The joint itself should melt the solder, not the iron.

A good solder joint will be smooth and shiny, with a concave cross-section, like this:

We have a nice tutorial on soldering here:
