in the stock firmwre, there are some message IDs reserved for PATT_PLAY/STOP, SEQ_PLAY/STOP and others (compcontrol.h)
but they are never implemented in compcontrol.c
the only implemented are PATT WR/RD (this is what's used for restore/backup/clear EEPROM), TEMPO get/set, STATUS, and PING
that's at least in v1.05

will replacing the OS delete my current patters?

Also when in bootload, my x0xb0x LED's all light up except for the upper row and stay light, is this nromal?

thanks!
no, it won't delete em, but using the new OS will potentially modify the memory
a backup is a wise thing

in bootload mode, it's normal that LEDs light up in odd ways (or not at all), don't worry about that

Hello.

Replacing the OS does not touch your patterns.. only the Tempo is saved on the firmware chip.

I wrote a little how to for Windows 64 bit users (like me) that cant get the x0xb0x to upload the firmware.

Download the drivers: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

In the Hardware Manager Select Ports (Com Ports)

Open up USB Serial Port Settings
(note that i dont have an english OS installed so i translated the settings out of my mind)

and then Change the following in the Port Settings:
Bits per Sec: 9600
Data Bits: 8
Parity: None
Stoppbits: 1
Flow Control: none

Then go to Advanced Settings:

USB Paket Sizes:

Receive: 512
Send: 512

BM Settings:

Waiting Time: 8 ms

Timeouts:
Minimal read: 0
Minimal send: 0

Select the Plug and Play option then you should be fine.

Now open up Control, turn on the x0x while in Bootloader Mode Position (different LEDs can light up, or no LEDs, it depends)

Now go directly to x0xb0x / Upload Firmware... and select your hex file.

Now with this settings the Firmware should upload without any errors and run fine.

Hope this helps some people
