using xoxbox with grooveboxes

Post by matt0514 »

i just recently got some grooveboxes, roland mc505 and yamaha rm1x, and when i have the xoxbox hooked up to them i have a problem where when i change patches on the groovebox, it changes the pattern on the xoxbox. any way of stopping this from happening? any other tips on using the xoxbox with grooveboxes like the mc505 and rm1x?

You could use a MIDI filter to block the program change messages. I have an Anatek Pocket Filter for just this sort of thing. There are many other stand-alone MIDI filters as well and the functionality is often built into MIDI routers like the Digital Music MX-8 (very cheap and popular on Ebay).

Just change the MIDI receive channel on the x0xb0x or the MIDI send channel on the groovebox(es). MIDI clock works regardless of MIDI channel used.
