Problems with sequencer

Post by stalker »

I bought pre-built x0xb0x on ebay. Sadly, sequencer is not working properly. Problem occurs when 'done' button is used, and only when pattern has less than 16 steps. For example: if 12 steps pattern is playing and i press 'done' sequencer plays steps 1-4 [only once] and then 1-12. Every time i press 'done' sequencer plays the difference between pattern lenght and full 16 steps. It's very annoying because i can't use any function that requires to press 'done'[for example loop]. I'm using sokkos 1.91 and i've tried to reload firmware , even 2.0 beta., it didn't help. Do you know how to sort it out?

it does the same thing?!
very odd then (me thinks)
i'm not sure if that's the way it's supposed to work (i've forgot) but it doesn't sound like so
can't help further, it might be some hardware problem.. i don't know

i dont think the done button
does anything in the stock firmware
when you are outside of edit mode

do you have problems in other modes

Yes. In "sync out" and "midi sync". In edit mode 'done' button work as it should be.

can you replicate this failure
by pressing any other buttons on the x0x

try a sequence
and hit all buttons to see if any of them do it

Only 'done' button when pressed separately, or when i try to turn on loop mode [done+nr. of steps]. When i press done + tap tempo to half tempo problem don't occurs.

im not certain what sokkos is supposed to do
but in the stock firmware
the done button should change tempo

are there any other problems in these modes
for example
in sync out
can you edit the pattern
does hitting done save the pattern as well
or do the next and prev buttons step the sequence
and the note buttons change the notes

if you can reload the stock firmware
and verify that it actually got loaded
by checking that some features changed
then i will be able to help more
as i dont know what the sokkos is supposed to do

if the stock firmware is verified loaded
then its a hardware problem
and most likely with mode knob
being a wrong state or something

Sokkos has functions i need, so right now i'm not going back do adafruit firmware. I don't want to make things worst by loading different firmware once again. Do you think changing microcontroller should help? If this is a hardware related problem what might need replacing?

it doesnt seem very likely
that it is a hardware problem
but if it were
i think the two most likely culprits
would be the mode knob
and the button shift registers

you should post in the sokkos thread
in the x0xm0dz forums
and see if anyone has seen this bahaviour

when you loaded the stock firmware before
did you verify that it got loaded
by noticing different functionality
sometimes the software will say its loaded
when it really didnt do anything

you could try a new micro
its also possible that there is a bad memory block
inside of the micro
