I'm gutted, I just can't seem to get a firmware update this time and I think the Xray that customs did of the machine screwed up the rom.
I've tried for hours to flash it in ways that I've previously had success. At this point I'm thinking there's not much I can do - I keep getting an error saying I don't have permission to write the new firmware, and I've tried it on multiple machines...I'm not even sure it's going into boot mode.
Any suggestions for a repair place near northern california? I am thinking a physical replacement of the rom is the only hope?

Some of the x0x kit suppliers will sell you a programmed chip pretty cheaply. It should be socketed, so it's easy to swap yourself.
