Pattern control via midi?

Questions about the x0xb0x-

can patterns be switched via midi? (while the seq is running).

if so, is this handled by a program change command?

can it only be done it certain "modes"?

and, are the pattern changes "quantized" (i.e. does the box wait until
the end of the current pattern before switching to the new one) or
does the pattern switch immediately upon reception of the pattern
change command?
