Looking into making a solar charger/recharger for an Apple iPad (NOT ipod). I suspect that if it charges the iPad, it will charge an iPhone or most any other smart phone.
Saw the article: http://ladyada.net/make/solarlipo/
To make a DIY charger. Do you know if this will support charging an iPad? Also, is it possible to get larger battery capacity (1600-1800 mAh, instead of the 1200 shown? Hook them up in parallel?) Possible to hook up two solar panels to get faster charging (again - parallel?), or better pass-through power support while charging a battery?

Re: Solar iPad charger
I made a solar powered iPhone charger earlier this year that works great.

I used a 2000 mAH battery. http://www.sparkfun.com/products/8483

Re: Solar iPad charger
Would something like an 18650 lithium battery work? These are 3.7V 2600mAh, so more power. Take longer to charge, but more amp hours. However, they are cylindrical like a AA battery - but they can come with solder tabs.

Re: Solar iPad charger
they are NOT protected, we DO NOT suggest using them, they are delicate/dangerous!
