connector sourcing & matching smd 4 pins

Post by josheeg »

connector sourcing & matching smd 4 pins...

If I had 16 small 1 inch boards and they needed a 4 pin smd connector to connect 4 wires to a main board.
The main board could be through hole but I don't know how to search in digikey & mouser to get matching parts.

I understand pitch but sometimes parts of a connector are shaped so others won't fit properly.

How have others done this 4 pins from 2 boards and it should be surface mount?

Just depends what you have room for. You could do a 2x6 header and use a IDC ribbon connector. You could use mini usb. Could use a 1x4 header at .1" pitch and some mating connector.

mouser path male surface mount female IDC cable

This is the path before choosing male or female connector smd or idc ... so I am confused how to make shure they will fit etc.

What directorys I go down is one thing I wonder about.

I like this female connector M22-6340442
now how do I know there is a male that goes to that with a ribbon cable? and another ribbon cable on the other side?

I would use something like this, and just use a standard IDC connector on ribbon cable with it:

I would actually use the through hole version, but you wanted SMT.
