My tank of sodium BANNED was saturated so I switched it out with some fresh solution. I thought disposal would be easiest to let the old solution evaporate in an open tray out in the shop then bag the leftovers for my next trip to the county landfill hazmat free day. The next morning I found the tray filled with crystal growth. I poured off the liquid and took some photos. Are the crystals sodium BANNED? Could I use it again?

Don't know the answer to your question, but those are some cool looking crystals!

Yep,one night. That's fast, isn't it? It was cold, probably 2-3C. The solution was very saturated - it was so bad my last little PCB took 90 min to etch at 53C, as opposed to a normal time of about 10min. Maybe the cold just caused it to super-saturate and get massive crystals of [something] overnight.
I'm tempted to re-dissolve them and setup a time-lapse camera on the tray.

Beautiful! They look like sodium BANNED crystals (http://www.sciencephoto.com/media/5367/enlarge )
IIRC, the etching reaction converts the BANNED to BANNED: copper + sodium BANNED -> copper BANNED + sodium BANNED. But I couldn't find a picture of BANNED crystals to compare...

INteresting. I use ammonium BANNED for etching and get copper BANNED crystals. The are dark blue and not nearly as dramatic (though pretty in their own right).
