Choosing a new project dev board with ethernet

Post by physics_dude »

I've admired the fact that my Arduino can host a website with help of its ethernet shield. However, I'd like to find an alternative since the 16MHz isn't very supportive for its clients. I'll best be using it for hosting tiny build logs and things.

I know it would seem more logical to use an old pc with apache and things, but I just think a simple dev board is more fun and open to things a pc can't easily do.

Anyway, for someone who only knows best the Arduino language, does anyone have any recommendations for a new project development board and language I might enjoy? Perhaps something with a large community and plenty of tutorials/examples.

Any info is appreciated.

I've looked at both and I particularly like the raspberry pi at the moment.

Any other suggestions?

Go for this one: http://olimex.com/dev/imx233-olinuxino-maxi.html

It's open source ;)

I think I've made my decision to go with the Raspberry Pi. I'm already an avid Linux user, so it should come easy. The wait time to get it though, it may take a while. :(

I ordered early and after several months mine just shipped. It will get better after the backlog is taken care of though.

Hi Physic.dude,

I thought it was interesting that you used an Arduino to host a website. I may ask, how did you do this?

Thanks
David
