Hello !
I am thinking of building the solar charger on my own, thanks to the open source nature of Product ID 390, which is solar, usb, dc lipo charger.
I would like t buy the MCP 73871. There are different "versions" which you can buy?
My question is:
What does the "2CCi/ML" part in this product name do ? : MCP73871-2CCI/ML
According to the manufacturer MCP there are different names of the MCP chip. Which version do you use in you adafruit product ?
Thank you very much for you answers.
Best greetings from germany.

The identification markings are described in section 7 of the data sheet: http://www.adafruit.com/datasheets/MCP73871.pdf

Re: Re-Build of Solar lipo charger
The datasheet isn't very helpful. But the best I can determine is that the suffix on the part number is an arbitrary identification value and the chips all perform exactly the same.
Also, I am trying to re-build the same charger and I have downloaded the eagle files. When I opened the .brd file I noticed a 0 ohm resistor floating at the bottom that appears to disable the USB charging. Have you noticed this? If so what is going on there?

It is actually pretty specific. See page 35.The datasheet isn't very helpful. But the best I can determine is that the suffix on the part number is an arbitrary identification value and the chips all perform exactly the same.

Oh yep page 35 is much more helpful than 29, thanks. Which model does adafruit use? Also, any insight on what is going on with the floating 0 ohm resistor in the .brd file for this board? Is it an error?

Re: Re-Build of Solar lipo charger
We use the 2CC version. Not sure why the 0-ohm D2 is not properly placed, but the connections are correct as can be seen on the schematic and the photo on the catalog page.
