Why are the red and green leds taking so much power?

Post by mousepad »

Hooked up directly to a coin cell, the red and green leds take ~20 - 30 mA. However the blue ultra bright ones take 3.3 mA ! Why is that?

The red & green have a lower forward voltage than the blue so they start conducting at a lower voltage and draw more current.
