Plastic Valve 997 Duty Cycle

Postby hawk_08 » Wed Mar 13, 2013 10:14 am

Hello everyone,

I recently buy the 12V plastic valve (http://www.adafruit.com/products/997) and the information on the current was quite helpful, but I was wondering does anyone has any idea of the Duty cycle? I am building an automatic valve to fill up a tank. To set my limit I wanted to know how long can I leave the valve open withouth destroying it?

Thanks

M.

I will check to see if there are more technical specs available. Typically with solenoid valves, the actuation current is quite a bit higher than the holding current. If you back-off on the holding current (via PWM), you can reduce coil heating considerably. Coil temperature is usually the limiting factor in duty-cycle ratings.

[Update]
We do not have a duty cycle spec on these. All the data we have from the manufacturer is posted on the product description page.
