Would this damage my multimeter?

Hey. Today I was measuring the voltage on a 9.6v battery and accidentally I touched both of the battery's terminals with the same probe causing some sparks to come out (I shorted the battery with the multimeter). This only happened for less than a second. Would this damage the multimeter? I am just scared this may have damaged the multimeter somehow. Thank you very much.

No. The current simply flowed through the probe from one battery terminal to the other. It would not affect the multimeter.
