Re: 8 x AA battery holder
I don't know of any 8xAA waterproof battery packs.
You could put one of these: http://www.adafruit.com/products/875#Technical Details
Inside one of these: http://www.adafruit.com/products/341
And route one of these: http://www.adafruit.com/products/743
Through one of these: http://www.adafruit.com/products/762

Re: 8 x AA battery holder
Hi you misunderstood me, you already sell the 8 x AA battery holder with a non-waterproof 5.5mm/2.1mm Plug, and you also sell by itself the Waterproof DC Power Cable 5.5/2.1mm, what I'm asking is if you could replace the cable on the battery holder for the waterproof?

Sorry, we aren't set for that kind of customization.

Thank you very much.
Your first reply already helped me, I just have one more question.
The Otter case doesn't have a hole, how do I make the connection ?

Re: 8 x AA battery holder
What's being described is a waterproof Otter box, with the AA holder inside, and the waterproof cable run through the gland. You'd have to drill a hole in the Otter box, but then you could push the pigtail end of one half of the waterproof cable set through it.
However, it sounds like you don't need the battery box itself to be waterproof; just the connection it makes. You will either need to splice the waterproof cable onto the power cable that comes off the battery box (i.e. clip off the end, strip the wires, splice new end on), or take the box apart (?) enough to be able to remove the original power cable from where it terminates and replace with the waterproof one.

Would I need the cable gland PG-7 or PG-9 for the Waterproof DC Power Cable Set - 5.5/2.1mm?

Re: 8 x AA battery holder
The cable is listed as .172" which is .003 bigger than what the PG-7 is specified to handle, but that's what the Adafruit rep linked earlier. Hopefully, they'll be right back with an authoritative answer

Just a thought:
If you need power why not a pair of D cells?
D cells have over 6 times the energy of an AA cell but cost less than 3 times as much.
The question of voltage can be easily overcome with a converter.

I was told that i need a 8xAA battery holder to feed 6 feet of a single color led lights. Which requires 12v

Well, you might as well get serious with the updated #6 dry cell, a favorite of my youth.

Re: 8 x AA battery holder
Well, to be clear, if you need 12v, then 8 x any 1.5v cell (wired in series) will do: AAA, AA, C, D, the "air alkaline" cell that Renate linked, etc. Bigger batteries provide more energy storage, which would largely equate to longer run time.pacecun wrote:I was told that i need a 8xAA battery holder to feed 6 feet of a single color led lights.
