android auto kit help

Post by pozzi »

for quite some time now i was wondering about making my own android based multimidia center for my car... and i just saw the android auto been lauched...

i would love to get some help about putting a kit toghether for this project

i thought about http://www.adafruit.com/products/1596 for the screen

and the PI https://www.adafruit.com/products/998 for the andorid

i'm not really sure about the connections and cables i might need for this

will the screen work with the PI ?

will i be able to power this kit from a normal car baterry (sharing the same one) ?

a must on this project is the ability to load the informations from the ODB II ( car connection) in to the android and use some app to monitor my car's consumption and other diagnosis

will something like this http://www.obd2cart.com/elm327-v15-obd2 ... p-375.html connect to a PI ??
will i need a HUB on the PI? for a OBD II connection and for a USB of media(music/videos)??

also about the sound ....i have a simple pioneer mp3/cd radio with aux in

would this https://www.adafruit.com/products/1475 be enouth to put a mic http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product in and have an out to aux in pioneer ???

and iguess i would need 4 USB connections in the PI ... the fourth one been for mobile itself so it could connect to the android auto like this http://www.cnet.com/pictures/google-sho ... io-2014/2/ would that be possible??

i appreciate in advance any help i can get as i will have just one shot to buy the kit, i'm from brazil but i have a friend coming from miami in august

best regards!

tnks franklin97355 ....

do we noobs annoy u guys that much?? just wondering... 37 posts view and u were the only one that helped me in a way.... it this ask for help too wrong??? i really wanted to buy the kit here.... but i´m not that much sure.... i meen... if a ask for help to buy products doesn´t get adafruit minds to talk with me... can u imagine in post-sale costumer service kind a thing ?? i really don´t know what i´m doing worng here;;;;;;;

anyhow ..i thought that with android i would be able to do this project in a simpler way... (i´m not a coder) but i found this tutorial for OBD-Pi in here somewhere http://www.cowfishstudios.com/blog/obd- ... -head-unit and i guess that´s what i was looking for.... if i knew phyton right ?!?!? :)

would i need a "2. Aftermarket head unit" even with the board u linked me ?

tnks again

A response from a support tech in 15 minutes is pretty good in my book. Your questions were a bit vague and you are asking about equipment to connect to the pi that we know nothing about.

Not sure what you are referencing here. Perhaps for the questions about non Adafruit products you would be better asking on their websites or the Raspberry pi site.
