12V to 5V using UBEC DC/DC Step-Down?

Post by pointjg »

Hi guys,

Simple question. I have two devices that I'm trying to power with a 12V 3.3a external power supply:

-12V LCD panel that the manufacturer states consumes 20W during normal operation
-5V board which the manufacturer states consumes 1-1.5a during normal operation

I've never had to step down voltages before. Could I just use the Adafruit UBEC DC/DC Step-Down for the job? Would I need to do anything else?

Thanks!

That should work. Remember to tie your grounds together for proper communications between devices.
