Need advice for a project in mind

Hi..First, I want to say I love adafruit's products (accessible libraries and tutorials) because they are easier for beginners like me, it's almost like battery included :)
I would like to ask for guidance for a particular project which includes xbee. I did a simple project before but includes 3 xbee only in star topology.

System device setup:
Selector - client selects to which client device(1-5) it wants to send request/data.
Client device - when the selector sends its request, it sends data to Data logger device. But there is a provision that the client can pass it to another client device when no info is available.
Data logger - logs data coming from client.


I'm planning to use Series 2 XBee "ZigBee" modules.
Questions:
1. Is Mesh topology will be the best setup?
2. Is there an example/link using arduino that able to select 1 out from multiple xbee to send data?
