Boost An FM Transmitter

Post by motionpotion »

Hi.

I removed an FM Transmitter from a product I had bought because the signal it was broadcasting was very poor. After opening I found that the antenna was disconnected completely from the board. I would like to boost the signal it is producing by connecting a longer antenna but I am not sure where to reconnect the antenna to on the board.

Could somebody give me a steer on which component on the board should be connected to the antenna?

Trial and error may be the way to go here. Turn on the receiver and the transmitter, then touch the antenna wire to various connections on the board, being careful not to short anything. The signal should improve when you get it right.

Failing that, carefully box it back up and return for refund. :)
