I ordered 20 watt speaker and Stereo 20W Class D Audio Amplifier for putting together the bike stereo. I had it all working, after about 5 days the speaker quit. Tested the system and the amplifier works with another speaker. Is it possible that the speaker had died, didn't think much could go wrong with a speaker. The wires and cone are connected no tears.
Any suggestions
thanks

Re: Bike stereo
Yes, it is possible, but unlikely for speakers to die out naturally in such a short time.
The most common causes that I've seen are (which do not include damage to the cone (tears)):
The most common causes that I've seen are (which do not include damage to the cone (tears)):
- Voice coil burning up (exceeded power)
- Voice coil becoming jammed (dirt/dust)
- Magnet unfastening and pinching/damaging the voice coil (weak/poor weld/glued points)
- Weak solder joints (wiggle stuff, anything loose?)
