LEDs are HOT

i did the test and the green light worked. once i finished and i put the batteries in the green light didnt work and the LEDs are HOT!!!! i checked nothing is shorted out that i can see. i actually had the wires break from the battery pack. i searched on line and figured out how to fix it. i have a new battery back on there and still same thing happening the LEDs are hot. i can see one LED working thru a camcorder but only one and their all HOT! i got this kit today i paid to get it over night and it cost me 50 bucks. i wanted to use it today and now im stuck. ANY IDEAS!!!!????? thanks, james

the wires for the batterys were on and then i was having problems then they broke off

There are a couple solder joints that look a little suspicious, but nothing that would account for the LEDs heating up. Check the markings on the transistors. Q5 should be different than Q1-4.

I used a magnifying glass and none of the solders are touching each other and I check the Q5 is in the right spot

Are all the LEDs getting warm? Or only the one that lights up? Is anything else on the board getting hot?

I don't see any short circuits. But you have several solder joints where the solder has not flowed well onto both the pin and the solder pad. Check this guide for common soldering problems and how to fix them. http://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-guid ... n-problems

I fixed a lot of my solder points but still all the LEDs and the four NPN transistors are heating Up

What were you using to power this? The NPN transistors and diodes connect directly between VCC and GND. Even a short circuit on the board could not cause them to overheat with the supplied battery pack. The only way to cause these to overheat is to put more than 5v through it. This will damage the board.

My wire broke off and I searched thru other peoples issues and adafruit support said to scratch off the green part next to the holes and solder on the copper neutral on the front and positive on the back and I used two AA battery pack

Do you have a multimeter? If so, measure the current from your battery pack when powering the TV-B-Gone.

I haven't measured one, but from the circuit design I'd estimate around 200mA.
