Stacking a Plate and a 16x2 LCD on a RPi? Or, better enclosure option?

Can I securely stack a Prototyping Pi Plate and a Blue&White 16x2 LCD on a RPi? I don't need a big breadboard, it would be nice if I can stack them to make the whole thing compact and secure.

If they cannot be stacked, what would be the best enclosure (I can buy or make) that can securely house a breadboard, a 16x2 LCD and a RPi? The enclosures that I can buy can only covers RPi and has no room for a bread board or a LCD. Pi Dish looks good but it doesn't cover the whole thing. I don't want my kids to touch stuff inside my RPi system.

You could stack it if you built it with stacking headers. But since they are only on one edge of the board, it would not be super secure.

Our large waterproof enclosures will hold the pi with room to spare.

If the two are stacked on a RPi, how high will it be? Will it fit to the large enclosure?

And how can a RPi be fastened securely in the enclosure?

Two stacked plates with the display would be about 41mm which will easily fit inside the enclosure. If you turn the Pi 90 degrees from what is shown in the photo, you could even mount 2 side-by-side. Mounting might take a bit of ingenuity. The board-edge connectors would work, but you might need slightly longer screws: http://www.adafruit.com/products/1116 Another option would be to mount the Pi to apiece of 1/8" material with the edge mount kit, then screw the whole assembly down to the mounting bosses on the bottom of the box.
